The Boy with Blue Trousers – Research Video Two

Late in 2017, I embarked upon a research trip to the port of Robe in South Australia to visit the place where 16,500 Chinese immigrants were abruptly landed in the years 1856 and 1857. They then had to walk 200 miles across country to the rich goldfields of Victoria. On the road between Robe and Penola, most groups stopped at the Kangaroo Inn to rest up. The Kangaroo Inn can still be found beside the road but it now lies in ruins.
